Berkley American Legion Post 374 Receives the DAR Community Service Award

On Saturday, March 11, 2023, the American Legion Stanley J Fons Post 374, Berkley Michigan was awarded the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) Three Flags Chapter Community Service Award.

Community Service Awards are an opportunity for DAR chapters and states to recognize worthy individuals and organizations for outstanding unpaid voluntary service in cultural, educational, humanitarian, patriotic, historical, citizenship, or environmental conservation endeavors. The individual or an organization must have contributed to the community in an outstanding through voluntary heroic, civic, benevolent service, or community activities.

The award was given to the Berkley American Legion Post 374 for their support of the community and local veterans facilities including Vets Returning home, Piquette Square for veterans, and the John D. Dingle VA Medical Center. In the local Berkley community they support the Memorial Day and Veterans Day ceremonies, The Berkley Public Safety Lids for Kid Program, a bike helmet giveaway for local childern, the Fire Safety Open House and the Berkley Cares food pantry among many others.
