Parks & Recreation
Use leisure time for physical and mental development - as well as for relaxation. The Recreation Department provides activities for all ages, from preschool to senior citizens. We offer plenty of recreational and leisure activities to keep you and your family active, including eight parks and recreational areas featuring:
- ball fields
- tennis courts
- outdoor basketball courts
- horseshoe courts
- multi-use turf areas
- picnic areas
- playground equipment

Meet Your Parks & Recreation Director:
A lifelong resident of Berkley, Kevin Price has three children and two grandchildren. Employed by the City since 1975, he has served as Director of Parks and Recreation since 1985.
Mr. Price graduated from Wayne State University in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreation and Parks Services and earned a Master of Arts degree from Central Michigan University in 1981.
In addition to overseeing operations of the Ice Arena, Community Center and all Parks and recreation facilities/programs, Mr. Price also serves as the City's representative on the Board of Directors for the Woodward Dream Cruise.
Other professional honors and accomplishments include:
- Memberships in the Northwest Parks and Recreation Association, Michigan Recreation and Park Association, and the National Recreation and Park Association.
- Graduation from Revenue Sources Management School sponsored by North Carolina State University.
- Obtained certification as a Parks and Recreation professional through the program sponsored by the National Recreation and Park Association
- Served on various standing committees of the Michigan Recreation and Park Association
- Served as President, Secretary and Board Member for the Metro Detroit Amateur Softball Association
- Received the Michigan Recreation and Park Association Executive Director's "Lombardi Award" for outstanding achievement in community service.
