What the Clerk/Treasurer's Office Does
The Clerk/Treasurer’s Office performs all the functions of both City Clerk and
City Treasurer departments.
Responsibilities
include:
- Collecting taxes, water bills, permit fees
- Receiving and
reporting
revenues collected by other departments and the 45A District
Court
- Conducting city, school, state, and federal elections
- Maintaining
voter registration files and elections equipment
- Maintaining
all public records
- Publishing public notices
- Opening all bids submitted to
the City
- Issuing pet and
bicycle licenses
- Issuing permits for garage
sales
The goal of the Clerk/Treasurer’s Office
is to provide pleasant, prompt, and efficient service. Office hours are Monday through Friday,
8:30 am. to 5:00 pm.

In August
1997, Karen was awarded the designation Certified
Municipal Finance Administrator (CMFA). The CMFA
is sponsored by the Association of Public Treasurers
of the United States and Canada and taught at Central
Michigan University.
In December 2000, Karen received her Certified
Municipal Clerk (CMC) certification after completing
a three-year educational program sponsored by the
International Institute of Municipal Clerks, held
at Michigan State University.
Karen began her career with the City in 1978.
Karen was appointed Deputy Clerk/Deputy Treasurer
in 1993 and Clerk/Treasurer in 2000. Prior to her
appointment to the Clerk/Treasurer’s office
Karen worked in our Finance Department. |
