How Do I Apply for a Position on a City Board or Commission?
Beautification Advisory Committee
This committee studies and recommends various approaches
to making and keeping the city clean and beautiful. Meetings: 1st Monday of the month, 7:30 pm at City Hall.
Board
of Canvassers
This board certifies the results of all local elections
and local issues. Meetings: The 1st Thursday after a local election or local issue at City Hall. For specific meeting time, call the Clerk's Office at 248-658-3310.
Board of Review
This board reviews and approves the city assessment
roll and hears appeals to property assessments. Meetings: March, July and December.
Building Code Board of Appeals
This board reviews appeals of building
permit denials. Meetings: This board meets as needed within ten days of application for appeal.
Communications Advisory Committee
This committee serves as an advisory body to Council
on matters of cable television such as public access,
rate regulation, and citizen complaints. Meetings: The 3rd Wednesdays of January, April, July and October, 7:00 pm at City Hall.
Downtown Development Authority Board of Trustees
This board works to promote the development of the
Downtown District. Meetings: 2nd Wednesday of the month, 7:30 am 2nd floor conference, Public Safety Building.
Environmental Advisory Committee
This board works to research and recommend ways to reduce city-generated pollution. Meetings: 1st Tuesdays of the month, 7:00 pm, 2nd floor conference, Public Safety Building.
Historical Committee
This committee studies and recommends various approaches
to utilizing city history in developing educational
and cultural activities. Meetings: Once per month, 7:00 pm in the Museum at City Hall.
Library
Board
This board is a fact-finding and advisory body that
recommends and advises City council and the City Manager
about present and future library needs. Meetings: 3rd Wednesdays of the month at the Library.
Parks & Recreation Advisory Board
This board studies and recommends development of park
and recreation activities. Meetings: 2nd Thursday of the month, 7:00 pm at the Community Center.
Planning
Commission
The commission reviews site plans for proposed development/redevelopment
in the City and reviews changes to the Zoning Ordinance. Meetings: 4th Tuesday of the month, 7:30 pm at City Hall.
Public
Safety Pension Board
This board monitors the performance of investments
for the Public Safety Pension System. Meetings: 3rd Wednesday of the month, 1:00 pm in the Public Safety Building.
Tree
Board
This board studies and recommends methods for tree
management and preservation. Meetings: 2nd Monday of the month, 7:30 pm at City Hall.
Woodward
Dream Cruise Ad-Hoc Committee
This committee plans the successful coordination of
events for the Woodward Dream Cruise and Berkley CruiseFest. Meetings: Throughout the year.
Zoning
Board of Appeals
This board reviews requests for variances from City
Codes. Meetings: 2nd Monday of the month, 7:30 pm at City Hall.
