The City of Berkley's 75th Anniversary Celebration will begin on May 23rd,marking the day in 1932, when Berkley was no longer a village. It was in 1923 that Berkley had gained the status of village. The history of this area between Woodward Avenue and Greenfield Road; 11 Mile Road and Webster prior to it becoming incorporated as a village, and later a city is linked to the story of Detroit's settlement and growth which dates to the early Twentieth Century.
Many Anniversary activities are being planned, including a Home Tour on July 22, Tea and Horseshoes on September 16, and a Historical Cemetery Tour on October 14. The annual Berkley Art Bash on June 9 and CruiseFest on August 17 will also be included in the 75th Anniversary Celebration.
An Anniversary Celebration Book will be published, featuring pictures of Berkley locations as photographed in the past and present. A Holiday ornament and note cards to commemorate the anniversary will also be sold.
Residents of Berkley are encouraged to join in the celebrations of Berkley's 75th Anniversary.
