Assessment Notices
Assessment notices have been mailed from Oakland County.  Read this notice carefully.  The information on the notice will determine how much you pay in taxes in 2010. 

If you want to appeal your assessment to the Board of Review you need an appointment. Meetings are held at Berkley City Hall.

Meeting Purpose

The purpose of the meeting is to act on changes in state equalized value and taxable value which were the result of:

  • clerical errors
  • poverty appeals
  • Michigan Tax Tribunal decisions or
  • Property transfers and homestead changes, and
  • which were not recognized at the March or July Board of Review.

Poverty Exemption

To obtain a Poverty Exemption you must first complete and return personal financial data forms.  These forms are available from the City of Berkley Treasurer's office.  It is requested, but not required, that Poverty Exemption appeals be returned to the Treasurer's office by 5:00 on  November 30, 2009.

Assessment Notices

Sometime in February, Oakland County will be mailing assessment notices to all Berkley property owners.  You should receive your notice by the end of February 2010. Be sure to read your notice carefully. The information on this notice determines how much you will pay in property taxes for 2010.

If you disagree with the information on this notice you have an opportunity to appeal your assessment to the Board of Review which will meet in March 2010.
