City Hall Renovation Meeting

Residents are invited to attend a town hall meeting, Thursday, March 15, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm to offer feedback on a $4.5 million plan to renovate the City Hall building at 3338 Coolidge Highway.

The meeting, which takes place in the City Hall council chambers, begins with a brief presentation about the history and condition of the building. A Q & A session follows, along with a walking tour of the building.

Berkley residents are being asked to consider three funding proposals on the November ballot: 2 mills for city infrastructure, a $15.2 million bond proposal for a new Community Center, and a $4.5 million bond proposal to renovate City Hall. To help inform the voters about these proposals, the city has scheduled a series of community forums that will focus on each of the ballot initiatives.

This Thursday's meeting will focus on City Hall. We’ll have a mortgage calculator at the meeting, allowing you to plug in your address for an estimate of how much you’ll pay in additional taxes on each of the proposals.

Following this meeting, a community forum has been scheduled April 17 to discuss a bond proposal for a new Community Center. That meeting runs 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Community Center, 2400 Robina Avenue.

The final meeting, on May 16, will focus on a possible millage increase for city infrastructure. That meeting runs 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at the Public Safety Building, 2395 12 Mile Road.

Again, these meetings have one specific purpose: to hear from you. Please attend so your voice can be heard.
