Berkley, MI – May 14, 2020 – City staff and Carlisle Wortman Associates (CWA), the professional planning consultant firm assisting the City in developing the Master Plan, would like to share its immersive community engagement activities with residents, businesses, and community partners.
CWA is reaching out to interested parties to attend focus group interviews to gather input from specialized groups within the community; such as local businesses, local service groups, Berkley school administration and students, municipal infrastructure and mass transit groups such as, SMART, RTA, Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC), Berkley Public Works, and the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT). These community groups can provide valuable insight as to how to plan for every person in the community.
Additionally, Wednesday, May 20, 2020, has been established as "Master Plan Day," upon receiving City Council’s declaration at the last council meeting. Staff are encouraging Berkley residents, business owners, and those representing all facets of the Berkley community to share their thoughts by going to tinyurl.com/berkleymasterplansurvey. The deadline to submit to feedback is Friday, May 29, 2020.
Staff has also set up a voicemail box for any residents wanting to leave a message with their ideas at 248-658-3327, or they can email masterplan@berkleymich.net.
The City of Berkley is also inviting all members of the community to attend eight interactive webinars with CWA, which will be broadcast through the City’s cable station. The webinars provide valuable information about the Master Plan process and why a current Master Plan is essential for every community. Additionally, the webinars serve as an opportunity to examine a specific Master Plan topic, such as parking, housing, infrastructure, etc. If you are unable to attend the webinars, staff has set up a drop-in day following each webinar for anyone who was not able to partake in the activity that day.
