PROPOSED NEW COMMUNITY CENTER

SUMMARY OF NEED:

The Community Center, built in 1973, has 8,100 square feet of program space.  It shows signs of aging including a leaky roof, a cracked wall with daylight showing through.  There is significant settling, cracking and separating on the east masonry wall.  The HVAC and ventilation system is inefficient to meet the demands of larger groups. The square footage and ceiling height in the multipurpose room limits the types of sport and team activities that can be offered to adults and children older than age 10. There is no fire suppression system in the office and multipurpose areas.

A Town Hall meeting to discuss the Community Center bond proposal was held Wednesday, September 19th. Our next Town Hall meeting, to discuss the Capital Improvement Project Millage, is scheduled for 6:30 pm Thursday, October 11th, at the Public Safety Building, 2395 Twelve Mile.
