December 13, 2018 - Town Hall Meeting on Proposal 1

Following voter approval of Proposal 1, there have been a lot of conversations about the legalization of recreational marihuana and the impact it will have on local municipalities in terms of commercial sales. We've also received a lot of questions about what it means for a community to "opt-in" or "opt out" of the sale of recreational marihuana.

To help spur some dialogue, we created a summary that explains the city's options in regards to Proposal 1 and the possible financial impact of allowing commercial sales. Please join the conversation by sharing your questions and opinions on this topic with our City Council members and staff. You can email your comments to communications@berkleymich.net.

The Berkley City Council also plans to hold a Town Hall meeting in February 2019 to gather more public input on this topic. We look forward to hearing from you!
