NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
BERKLEY ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS – ELECTRONIC MEETING

Notice is hereby given, that a Public Hearing will be held by the Berkley Zoning Board of Appeals on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 7:02pm or as near thereto as the matter may be reached in an electronic virtual meeting, in accordance with Executive Order No. 2020-154. The Berkley Zoning Board of Appeals shall hold a public hearing to discuss a variance request for the location of a generator within the side yard setback on a residential property.

Application Number PBA-02-21
Flame Furnace Co, on behalf of John and Sara Giarmarco, 2650 Ellwood, Parcel ID #25-18-152- 036, east side of Ellwood Ave, north of Catalpa Dr., is requesting a variance to install a generator in the side yard of the residential property.

Berkley City Code
Berkley City Code, Chapter 138 Zoning, Article III General Provisions, Division 1.5 Exterior Appliances, Section 138-73(a)(1) on Residential lots, Power Generators and other exterior appliances shall be located in the rear yard at least six (6) feet from the side property line.

The applicant is proposing to install a generator in the side yard, within the privacy fence next to the existing air conditioning unit.

The Berkley Zoning Board of Appeals shall hold a public hearing to discuss a variance request for minimum lot size in the R-1D, Single Family Residential District.

Application Number PBA-03-21
Troy Faik, 1919 Robina Ave, Parcel ID #25-18-454-028, west side of Robina Ave, north of Eleven Mile Rd, is requesting a variance for minimum lot size in order to split the existing property into two separate parcels.

Berkley City Code
Berkley City Code, Chapter 138 Zoning, Article V District Regulations, Division 17 Schedule of Regulations, Section 138-526. The minimum lot size area in the R-1D, Single Family Residential District shall be 4,400 sq. ft.

The applicant is proposing to split the existing property at 1919 Robina Ave. New Parcel 1 is proposed to be 4,377.45 sq. ft. The applicant is requesting a lot size variance of 22.55 sq. ft. New Parcel 2 shall meet the minimum lot size requirement.

BERKLEY BOARD OF REVIEW MEETINGS

The City of Berkley Board of Review will meet on the dates and at the times listed below for the purpose of reviewing the 2021 assessment roll, hearing any objections thereto, and to conduct such other business as may be permitted or required by law.

Meetings will be held at the City Hall, 3338 Coolidge Highway, Berkley, MI 48072.

  • HOMEOWNER’S PRINCIPAL RESIDENCE AFFIDAVIT INFORMATION: If you purchased your principal residence after June 1 last year, to claim the principal residence exemption, if you have not already done so, you are required to file an affidavit by June 1 for the immediately succeeding summer tax levy and all subsequent tax levies or by November 1 for the immediately succeeding winter tax levy and all subsequent tax levies.
  • POVERTY EXEMPTION REQUEST: Poverty exemption requests will be considered at the July and December Board of Review sessions.
  • Resident taxpayers may appeal by letter to the Board of Review if the written appeal is received by 3/09/2021.
